Full Text
Our roads are drying up just as fast as the continual rain and occasional snow will allow, until I begin to think should we have a considerable spell of clear weather with a due proportion of sunshine the mud will be sufficiently hardened for artillery and supply trains to move sometime in the course of human event, if not sooner. This, however, is merely hypothetical, and you should not put too much confidence in it for fear you may be mistaken. Should, however, so unlooked for an event occur, and my various and onerous duties allow, I will give notice.
