NEWS NUGGETS.
Persona Paragraphs and Pertinent Points.
-Mr. B. G. Dawes left for Pomeroy Monday on a business trip.
-Willard Deaith left Monday for Cincinnati on a business trip.
-Treasurer Bode announces that he is now ready to receive June taxes.
-Mr. J. T. Dillon and family, of Macksburg, were in the city Monday.
-Mrs. Fred Miraben is very ill and fears are entertained for her recovery.
-H. C. Rowan, of Parkersburg, is visiting Mrs. T. J. Murray, 141 Front street.
-Miss Katherine Weidner is the guest of relatives in Wheeling this week.
-Mrs. Bennett and Mrs. Parker, of Macksburg, were callers in the city Monday.
-Miss Lucy Holbrook is home from a pleasant visit with Parkersburg friends.
-Councilman Henry Savage has returned from a week's business trip to Clarksburg.
-Wm. Bay, a prominent merchant of Cumberland, was in the city on business Monday.
-Capt and Mrs. M. F. Noll left Monday afternoon for Philadelphia and eastern cities.
-Stephen Thorniley has gone to Zanesville in the interest of Thorniley Bros.' produce store.
-The ladies of the Maccabees will hold a meeting this evening. All members are requested to be present.
-Mr. Reinhold Thieme has gone to Evansville, Ind., to visit relatives and recuperate his shattered health.
-Ed. Butts, of Chillicothe, is filling the place of fireman on the Branch of the B. & O. S-W. for L. D. Herring.
-Mr. J. W. Stewart, of Jefferson, Iowa, is the guest of his brothers, J. F., C. R. and C. E. Stewart, of the College.
-Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Guthrie will leave this morning for Cornwallis, W. Va., to remain for the next two months.
-Miss Bell Eveleigh arrived from Cincinnati and will be the guest of her cousin, B. Eveleigh and other relatives in the city.
-Mrs. Nelly, who was called here by the illness of her daughter, Mrs. Alderman, left yesterday for her home at Parkersburg.
-L. W. Ellenwood is acting as counsel in an oil case at Newark in which Mr. Warren Berry is interested.
Quite a number of oil men accompanied them Monday to Newark to act as witnesses.
-After a few days in Pittsburgh, where he was delegated to go by the St. Paul's German church, Mr. George Storck returned to the city Sunday.
A district conference of that church was in session at that place last week.
-The following party, all members of the Episcopal church, left Monday morning for Hillsboro, to attend the Diocesan Convention of that church:
Mrs. Maria P. Woodbridge, Mrs. J. A. Gallaher, Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Bosworth.
At the conclusion of the meeting of the Diocese, Mr. and Mrs. Bosworth will proceed to Columbus where they will be present at the assemblage of the General Board of Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs.
-Mr. W. M. Dearth left Monday for Cincinnati.
-Col. J. H. Riley left Monday for Cincinnati.
-Mrs. D. H. Thomas left Monday for Athens to visit relatives.
-Dr. L. V. James was at Chesterhill on professional business Monday.
-Mrs. J. F. Bukey came in on the noon train from Baltimore Monday.
-Judge H. L. Sibley left yesterday for Circleville, where he is holding Court.
-F. B. Ranger will leave today for Beaumont, Tex., to engage in the oil speculation.
-Harry Meredith arrived in the city Monday from a business trip through West Virginia.
-Miss Mary Crewett, who has been visiting in the city left today for her home at Briggs.
Mrs. J. B. Barnhart, of Centre Belpre, was in the city the guest of friends yesterday.
-Judge H. L. Sibley left Monday for Circleville, where Circuit Court is in session this week.
-Harry Meredith arrived in the city Monday night from Pomeroy, where he is conducting business affairs.
-W. E. Farre returned Monday from McConnelsville, where he visited at his home over Sunday.
-D. H. Thomas was at Chapinville Monday afternoon taking depositions in the case of Stage vs. Hancock.
-There was no meeting of the Board of Education last evening. Several members gave as a reason that they wanted to attend the circus.
-Wil Barnhart was one of the passengers on the B. & O. S. W. Monday noon. He came from Jackson and will be in the city for the next ten days.
-In Common Pleas Court Monday the case of Henderson Oil Co. against E. Clark, Jr., et al. regarding an oil lease, was decided in favor of the defendant.
-A fine black and tan Manchester terrier was received by Mr. Arthur Munford Monday. The canine is from the Yates kennels at Rochester, N. Y., and is very handsome.
