NEGRO HURT IN AUTO
CRASH FRIDAY MORNING

A negro giving his name as Grier
and claiming to be a tenant on the
McDowell-Williams farm was painfully
injured in an automobile accident
early Thursday night at the intersection
of Church and Main streets. He
suffered a severe bruise on the right
side of his head and minor injuries
about the body.
According to the story told by the
negro he was riding in a buggy, and
was turning from Church into Main
street and going towards the Central
depot. The automobile was also traveling
towards the station. The automobile
was driven by a man from Albany,
whose name was given as Cato
Fouche by the officials of the Southern
Grocery Company, which owns the
machine.
