Hail the glad tidings,
Triumphantly sing!
And forth to the breezes
Our bright banner fling!

MORE CONVERTS TO DEMOCRACY!
Hang Your Banners on the Outer Wall.
the Cry is Still They Come!

Then Freemen, awake, 'tis the dawn of the day
When the darkness of misrule shall vanish away
And Radical Tyranny flee in dismay.

The following are a few among
the many prominent Radical news-
papers and politicians who have
left the Black Republican party,
and rallied to the support of Sey-
MOUR AND BLAIR:

W. J. MANKERS, late Doorkeep-
er of the United States House of
Representatives, is before the pub-
lic in a long and telling letter, in
which he renounces Radicalism
in all its phases and forms.

John Manning, hitherto a prom-
inent Radical of Clinton, New
Jersey, abandons that party, "be-
cause it has shown itself incom-
petent to restore peace and secure
the
fruits
of victory since the
war.

The New York Herald has open-
ly advocated the election of Grant.
But in looking over the field it
sees the vast volume of public
sentiment rolling up against the
Radicals, and gracefully acknowl-
edges that even the name of Grant
can have no more effect in stop-
ping the current than chaff before
the whirlwind.

Charles Morris, of Troy, Ohio,
one of the leading lawyers of Mi-
ami county, and hitherto an ac-
tive republican, has publicly an-
nounced his intention to support
Seymour and Blair. Quite a num-
ber of other prominent Radicals
in Miami county have renounced
their former faith, and the Demo-
cracy there are even confident of
being able to carry the county
this fall.
The "loyal leagues" of Philadel-
phia have expelled eighty-two of-
their members for non-payment
of dues. They have united with
Seymour and Blair organizations.

Judge R. Briggs and Colonel
John M. Connell, of Fayette coun-
ty, Ohio, formerly leading Repub-
licans, were among the prominent
speakers at a Democratic meeting.

Colonel C. C. Gardiner, of El-
mira, New York, a gallant officer
in the war, and heretofore a Re-
publican, comes out squarely for
the Democratic ticket. In a pub-
lished letter he says:-

"Congress should be arraigned
and questioned by the people in
this canvass.

"Let Congress answer for depriv-
ing ten States of all civil govern-
ment for the last three years."

Mr. Wharton, the veteran edi-
tor of the Parkersville North Amer-
ican, (formerly Radical,) was pres-
ent at the great Democratic meet-
ing at Graton, West Virginia,
which was addressed by the Hon.
Geo. H. Pendleton, and says that
he met there hundreds who, like
himself, are now cordial supporters
of Seymour and Blair.

Ex-Governor Sherwood of Wis-
consin has recently come out une-
quivocally for Seymour and Blair.
Let Radicalism stand from under.

A gentleman in Washington,
writing to a friend in New York,
says:-"I have always opposed
Gov. Seymour, but I see no way
to save the Constitution and the lib-
erties of the people except in
the election of the Democratic can-
didates. I shall do all in my pow-
er to aid the cause."
At the Democratic Congression-
al convention for the 12th district
of Ohio, held at Circleville on the
5th, after Judge Van Trump had
been renominated, Col. Lyman L.
Jackson, of Perry county, formerly
a staunch Radical, made a speech
in the convention renouncing Rad-
icalism and declaring for the De-
mocracy.

Wm. R. King, a well known
Republican of Bedford, Pa., has fai-
len into line with the unterrified
Democracy. He voted for Fre-
mont, and twice for Lincoln, but
he says he cannot support the
Radicals any more.

Vermont went Republican
at the election on Tuesday, 1st, for
Governor, members of Legislature,
and members of Congress. Noth-
ing
else
was expected. That
State began its political career in
1824, by voting against General
Jackson, and it has gone against
the Democracy every election ever
since.
