London, August 29. On Friday the University of Oxford waited on His Majesty at Hampton Court, and congratulated His Majesty upon the Birth of the Princess, Daughter of their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales; to which humble Address, His Majesty was pleased to give a most gracious Answer. And on Saturday the said University also waited on His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, at St. James's, to congratulate His Highness on the said Occasion; to which, his Highness was pleased to return a most gracious Answer: After which they were all very elegantly entertained at Dinner at St. James's, by the Right Hon. the Lord North and Guilford, one of the Lords of the Bed-chamber to his Royal Highness. An Envoy from the most serene Duke of Saxe-Gotha, is daily expected at this Court, to compliment their Majesties and their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales, on the Birth of the young Princess. August 30. Last Night, between 7 and 8 o' Clock, the New-born Princess was baptized in an Apartment belonging to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, at St. James's, under a fine Canopy erected for that Purpose, by the Name of AUGUSTA: The Ceremony was performed by his Grace the Archbishop of Canterbury; and the Sponsors were his Grace the Duke of Grafton, Lord Chamberlain of the King's Household, for His Majesty; the Right Honourable the Countess of Burlington, for the Queen; and the Right Hon. the Viscountess Torrington for the Dutchess Dowager of Saxe-Gotha. A large Silver Font gilt, Basins, and other Necessaries, were brought from the Jewel Office in the Tower, on that Occasion. Yesterday the Vice-Chancellor and Heads of the University of Cambridge, waited on His Majesty in their Formalities, at Hampton Court, with their Congratulatory Address, on the happy Delivery of the Princess of Wales of a Princess. And this Day they are to wait on their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales, at St. James's, on the said Occasion.
