QUEEN WILHELMINA OF HOLLAND.

Queen Wilhelmina of Holland is the only woman sovereign in Europe. She is also one of the youngest reigning monarchs, having been born in 1880. She became queen when ten years of age, but her mother acted as queen regent until 1898, when the young monarch assumed the full duties of her position. In 1901 Queen Wilhelmina married her cousin, Henry, Duke of Mecklenburg, but there were persistent reports later that the union was not entirely happy. The youthful queen, whose portrait is herewith shown, is very much beloved in the Netherlands.
