DON'T FORGET THE SAN JUAN.
Secretary Fall has submitted to congress his report favoring the development of the Imperial valley in California by the irrigation from the Colorado river. His plan includes the construction by the government of the Boulder Canyon dam.
New Mexico, of course, is interested in seeing that the government should not forget the San Juan valley when the development of the Colorado river is under way. The construction of a dam somewhere in the vicinity of the Colorado state line is imperative to the proper development of the basin and to the conservation of the waters of the Colorado.
It might be well for the people of Farmington, Durango and other towns occasionally to send the secretary of interior a message like this: Don't forget the San Juan. Mr. Fall, of course, is a resident of this state and will take a very personal interest in the development of a section with the wealth of the San Juan basin. All he will need, we are sure, is a little friendly reminder at frequent intervals that a considerable portion of the San Juan valley is in this state.
