THE ATTEMPTED FRAUD.

George Riston Esq. whig, of Philadelphia received a letter from Baltimore prior to the election in the latter city for Mayor, &c. requesting 500 men to be sent on to assist the whigs. By stratagem, the democrats obtained possession of the letter. It was signed by a Deputy High Constable of Baltimore, a whig. He denied having written the letter. But the hand writing has been identified as his by High Constable Blaney, of Philadelphia, who compared it with other letters from Jeffers, in Court, and by several gentlemen of Baltimore.
