FROM WASHINGTON.

The Senate yesterday, after fixing the compensations of several of its officers, went at an early hour, into Executive business.—When the doors were opened, the Senate took a recess until 5 o'clock.

We hear it said that the famous Gwynn, who has been heretofore so often before the Senate, was yesterday again rejected. It is not known whether the President intends to "try it again."

In the House of Representatives, the Revenue Collection Bill was taken up, and Mr. McDuffie addressed the House in an able and eloquent speech in opposition to the bill. When he concluded, the House took a recess until 5 o'clock, at which time Mr. Wayne, of Georgia had the floor.
