Full Text

NATCHEZ. Sept. 21.

Extract of a letter from a gentleman in New Orleans, to his friend in this city, dated Sept. 8, 1804.

The yellow fever certainly prevails in this city. Our friend Horé B. Triste has fallen a victim to it, besides many others of our countrymen. Governor Claiborne and his lady were attacked by it, and were for some time despaired of; but with pleasure I add, they are completely recovered. The troops have all marched out of the city, and will remain out until the fever entirely subsides. I think it has already measurably subsided.
