Community Chest Goes Over
The Negro Division of the Community Chest exceeded their goal by a greater margin than ever before in Chest history which demonstrated both loyalty and competent leadership.

The group of workers under the chairmanship of Madame Carrie Cargo took the Chest program to the doors of every Negro citizen in this area.

Carefully organized according to the plan of Community Chest Division work, workers were dispatched to serve every organization, institution and individual.

The Initial Gifts Committee led by Dr. Fonvielle and Mr. W. S. Scott, Sr., receiving large gifts from individuals was leading group with $1,668.50.

Madame Cargo representing Churches reported $786.47.

W. D. Donnelly, schools, $548.65.

Dr. Henry M. Collier, Jr., professional, $457.50.

Dr. S. M. McDew, Jr., Business, $276.65, and clubs represented by Mrs. F. M. Walker.

The general canvass group, zoned to reach individuals who could not be contacted otherwise proved to be the means of really bringing the Chest home to everyone

In this way workers made house to house canvases for subscriptions and pledges meeting with hearty responses from all sources. Mrs. R. M. Gilbert of Zone 2 led this division with $425.09, Mr. L. H. White, Zone 1 reporting $159.96, Mr. R. A. Bryant, Zone 3 $100.81, and Mrs. L. H. Davis of Zone 4, $80.35.

Suburban areas organized under group captains were led by Ga. State College with $377.90 represented by Prof. F. D. Thorpe and Miss C. T. Jones. Fellwood Homes reported by Mr. R. L. Balden was second with $92.67, Mrs. G. Lundy of Yamacraw Village reported $44.31 and The County reported by County Agent Ben Adams, $15.00.

The splendid cooperation received in the campaign this year is due largely to the committees knowledge of the work and needs of the Chest and its close affinity with the individuals helped by Chest organizations. The Red Feather Salute to the committee for a great job well and successfully done.
