"SUPPORT GOVERNMENT!"

How comfortable in these hard times is a fat office! During the war, offices are multiplied, and Salary men look cheerily and safe. The mail of yesterday made another man happy by bringing him a Commission. Henry Elkins, Esq is appointed Naval Officer for this port; & such a reward for services was enough to make any man active, all day yesterday, in distributing votes for Crowningshield the war candidate "Support and be supported," is his motto, & "Scratch my back and I'll tickle your elbow" For a long time Mr Elkins has held the three dollars a day, office of Judge of Court of Sessions and now the patriot is rewarded by another Who would not be loyal and steady in exclaiming "support Government!" Who would not fold his arms and sing "I love my love, because my love loves me."
