Theatre Paint Poisoned Him
The Emporia Gazette says Clarence Bennett is not yet able to play with the Morey Stock Co. Two weeks ago an accident occurred that placed Bennett in a serious condition, Faust was on.

Bennett was playing Mephisto when he fell and bruised his knee. It was more serious than was at first supposed. The bone was bruised. He kept on playing and the next day his leg was stiff and sore.

He played that night but his leg was in a worse condition and grew worse for a week when he had to go to the hospital. On the last two nights he had to use a cane when he left the stage. It was a case of blood poisoning.

The red coloring matter from his Mephisto tights had got into the skin wound and it now seems likely that amputation of the leg will be necessary to save his life.
