Dewey Stokes, 16, won the most coveted award of the year around the West Side Boys' Club Tuesday night-the Boy of the Year trophy.

He was honored at the eighth annual awards banquet of the West Side Club at the Deshler Hilton Hotel. More than 150 persons attended.

This year's "boy of the year" is the son of Mrs. Florence Stokes, 570 W. State-st, and is a ninth grade student at Holy Family High School. He has been active in the Boys' Club program for the past eight years.

The outstanding youngster of 1956 is chosen on the basis of leadership, participation in club activities, attitude, behavior and scholarship. Four boys were strong competitors to the citizenship laurel but Stokes took the lead on scholarship with a B-plus average.

Games room awards were presented to: Charles Page, William Purcell, Edward Buchanan, Robert Burlile, Ronald Bell, Corky Johnson, Dennis Gallucci, Edward Buchanan, James Green and Thomas Gaines.

Individual awards were won by: Donald Bell, Edward Buchanan, Henry Harriston, Butch Weaver, Newton Burris and James Hess.

Baseball team awards went to: Mike Zabonic, Harry Collins, Dean Colombini, Oscar Rhinehart, Bob Risinger, Dewey Stokes and Henry Bell.

The Smith-Barratt American Legion Post-sponsored team won a trophy. Team members are: Jim Steinmetz, Jerry Geddes, Jim Pilkington, Pete Scott, Bob White, Dick Brown, Ronny Smiley, Larry Durfee, Larry Distlehorst, Charley Neal, and coach Bus Marvin.

Gymnasium team awards were won by: Dennis Gallucci, William Weaver, Carol White, William Weaver, William Mitchell, Kenny Humphrey and Leroy Eyer.
