Only a Few Remained to Hear Close of Debate on Free List Bill Ex-Speaker Cannon Spoke

Washington, May 6.—A handful of faithful members of the house witnessed the termination today of a memorable debate on the tariff free list bill which will probably be voted upon Monday.

Few of the speeches, however, received much attention. Former Speaker Cannon had a good audience when he spoke against the bill.

Monday the measure will be subjected to attempt at amendment but the Democratic leadership hope to secure a final vote on its passage before adjournment that day.
