Following the death of Judge J. S. Larew, the superior court has rearranged its procedures: Judge Finney's court is now department one, handling one-third of new civil actions, all criminal proceedings, naturalizations, adoptions, and juvenile cases; department two takes two-thirds of civil cases, probate, Torrens, law cases, and insanity hearings. Existing cases remain assigned, with possible transfers. A temporary judge is expected for department two on Monday.

Superior Court
Changes Made

With the death of Judge J. S. Larew a rearrangement of superior court procedure here has been effected. Hereafter Judge Finney's court will be known as department one and the other as department two.

Judge Finney will handle practically the same cases that he has handled heretofore under Department two but will take over the present civil calendar of department one. Department one will take one third of the civil actions filed from this time on, all criminal proceedings, naturalization matters, adoptions and juvenile cases.

Department two under the new rulings will handle two thirds of the civil cases, all probate matters, all Torrens I and Law cases and will hold all insanity hearings.

Special stress has been laid on the point that all civil cases now set for trial or hearings of any nature will remain under the same department loads as they are now listed. It is possible that some of the cases booked for Judge Finney's court will be transferred to Department two where they conflict with criminal trials booked in department one.

It is expected that the judiciary council will send a judge here to sit temporarily in department two Monday.
