Governor Explains a Few of The Apparent Slights to King

In the press conference Monday at which Governor Ralph Paiewonsky scored The Daily News for its editorial of that day, the governor said he hadn't time to explain away all nine insults and slights to Government Secretary Cyril E. King alleged in the editorial, but would explain a few.

King, he said, because it is the custom of the organization to have elected officers as members, rather than appointed officials.

He had sent John de Jongh, his special assistant, to the United Nations hearings on "colonialism" instead of King because de Jongh had been in on previous discussions on the matter and the request came from the U.N. that he be the one sent.

—Mrs. Paiewonsky had taken a position in a reception line ahead of Mrs. King, though King was acting governor at the time, because it is proper protocol to do so, he said. She had flashed the lights though the party was going strong because officials of the travel agents' organization being entertained had asked her to do so to get people moving along to the next function.

Also there was a jam-up of cars on Government Hill because of the guests delay, the governor said.
