Full Text

Members of Congress.—Elections are to be held soon in the three vacant districts in this State. In Berkshire, at the last trial, the votes were very much scattered. H. W. Dwight, the present member, who then declined, has now consented to be a candidate.—His ability, and the influence he has obtained in Congress ought to, and we trust will secure his re-election. In Hampshire, Samuel Lathrop, the present incumbent, and I. C. Bates are the candidates. The latter is recommended for his fine talents, his extensive practical knowledge, and his ability as a debater, while for the former is claimed a sound judgment, and the advantage of greater Legislative experience. At the last trial the latter received the greatest number of votes. In Bristol, the candidates are J. L. Hodges, James Arnold, and Hercules Cushman.
