A Gentleman near Cavendish Square, whose name is Gilbert, has invented a carriage, it is said, which has a power to run at the rate of twenty miles or upwards in an hour, for a constancy, without horses, on a different construction to any hitherto known, and will go with equal swiftness backward or forward with ease, and stop at command. A heavy carriage, built on this principle, will carry an unlimited number of tons weight, without any labour to keep it going, and may be of the same utility by water.
