BROOKE IS TO COME HOME.
He Will Be Summoned to Washington For a Consultation With Root.
WASHINGTON, Aug. 16.—General Brooke will be called to Washington to consult with Secretary Root concerning affairs in Cuba. The secretary desires to have the benefit of General Brooke's knowledge of the situation on the island and before he reaches any conclusions as to a future policy for Cuba. No date has been fixed for General Brooke's visit, but it will no doubt be governed by the developments in the situation and before the secretary begins his annual report to the president.
