Full Text

Extract of a Letter from Ayr, in Scotland, October 28.

Mr. Duff, Sheriff of Ayr, is advised from Stranraer, and the west Coast, as well as from the Isle of Man, that the Plague has broke out in that Island. If this is a Fact, it will be very difficult to prevent its being communicated to Britain; for the Isle of Man is inhabited by a Nest of Smugglers, and from Greenock to Liverpool is crowded with their Adherents. You see the Risk we run. I wrote this because it came from a sure Hand.

Another Paper contradicts this Account, and says there is no infectious Disorder in the Isle of Man.
