Huachuca - Bisbee Road Gets Paving
BISBEE, June 25-Returning yesterday from the annual budget meeting of the Arizona State Highway commission, Gus Michaels, secretary of the Bisbee Chamber of commerce, brought information regarding amounts allotted for this district. Michaels said every county was represented at the budget meeting with the exception of Pinal and Santa Cruz.
According to the local secretary, the budget approved calls for $13,000 with which to pave the two mile stretch west of the Stark overpass on the Fort Huachuca-Bisbee highway. There is also an allotment of $75,000 for construction on eight and two-tenths miles of road between the Stark overpass and Don Luis.
The local representative also pointed out there has been tentatively set up, subject to passage by congress of the Hayden-Cartwright bill, the sum of $133,815 for the last mentioned road.
Among other items for this district, $3,500 has been earmarked for survey and right of way purposes on the Lowell to Forrest Ranch stretch.
Latest figures brought back from the meeting at Phoenix show total carried forward of $256,975 for completion of work already started but as yet uncompleted in Cochise county.
Michaels said the budget just adopted for use on highways in the state is the smallest in ten years.
