OCTOBER

October - Dumb Dein
Runnin' the joy o' pumpkin and
oats strewn even on the ground
Grinnin' children th' 'simmons down:
Cotton pickers finished their run.
Singin' "Hallelujah, 'tis done."

October - ain't she sweet, -
Golden cornshocks bout her feet.
Yonder in love's endless day
Courtin' couples ridin' hay
An coffee's scentin' overhead
Where they're makin' up shortenin' bread.

October - Martha Loy
Next time's bride is comin' through.
With dimpled brown eyes sparklin' cheeks
I could kiss 'em forty weeks,
Tho' at the harvest moon I stare,
Praise God. I'm a millionaire.
