We hear that Mr. Saxby, the South Carolina Stamp Master, altho' he has resign'd that detestable Office, is still obliged to remain a Prisoner in the Fort there, together with his cargo of Stamp-Papers, as otherwise his Life would be in danger from the enraged Populace. One Read, a colonel of the militia, having imprudently said he would undertake to put the Stamp Act in force there, had his windows, fences, &c. broke and every room, closet and desk in his House opened for those sons of liberty to see whether he had any of the Papers there. The people were far from being quiet when these accounts came away.
