On the last day of July, the Austrians were very near completing their junction with the Russians; for which purpose the corps under the command of the Generals Draskowitz and Bethlen had advanced as far as Neustadt; but there, instead of the Russians they met with Prussians, who attacked them with such vivacity that they were obliged to retire with some precipitation, and the loss of a Lieut. Colonel, three subalterns, and about 200 private Men. This misfortune obliged the Russians, who were advancing to retire to their former camp.
