Heads Vance Organization and Will Appoint Committee Members; Advisory Group
Appointed.

Raleigh, Oct. 13.—Formation of an
advisory committee and appointment
of county chairmen to spearhead
scrap collections by the women's division of the state salvage committee were announced today by Mrs.
Estelle T. Smith, chairman of the
women's division.

Mrs. Geneva B. Teiser of Henderson is named chairman for Vance
county.

"The women of North Carolina
are organized and ready to help in
this vital campaign," declared Mrs.
Smith, who is assistant to the state
home demonstration agent at N. C.
State College.

Mrs. J. M. Broughton, wife of the
governor, and Mrs. E. L. McKee,
state senator of Sylva, are honorary
chairmen of the women's work.

The advisory committee, composed of representatives of state women's organizations, will enlist the
aid of their members in the salvage
drive. Members of the committee are
Mrs. P. R. Rankin of Mount Gilead,
Federation of Women's Clubs; Mrs.
J. S. Blair of Elizabethtown, Parent-Teacher Association; Mrs. D. J. Lytbrook of Advance, Garden Clubs;
Mrs. Arthur P. Wilson of Kinston,
Business and Professional Women's
Clubs; Mrs. B. B. Everett of Palmyra, Associated Women of the Farm Bureau Federation; Mrs. W. P. Dorsey
of Rutherfordton, Federation of
Home Demonstration Clubs; Mrs.
Morris Honigman of Gastonia, Federation of Music Clubs; Mrs. Joseph
Silversteen of Brevard, Daughters of
the American Revolution; Mrs. R. O.
Everett of Durham, United Daughters of the Confederacy; and Mrs.
Victor Johnson of Pittsboro, American Legion Auxiliary.

Under the statewide set-up, county chairmen appoint a salvage chairman for each town, with the local
chairman to appoint as many vice
chairmen, zone directors and block
captains as necessary for a thorough
canvass of the community.

Mrs. Smith said "the home demonstration agents, with the assistance
of home demonstration club women,
home economics teachers and neighborhood leaders, are covering the
rural areas nicely."
