Full Text
The sermon of the Rev. Mr. Depuy last Sunday evening from the words "let him that heareth say come" was very good. In speaking of the sacrifices men make for duty, he told a beautiful story in a few words. He said; "I had a boy only in his teens; he went to fight for his country, actuated by as pure and noble a purpose as ever filled the breast of a lad; and he never returned." There's many a father and mother in this land who could fill in the picture. A sentient being, full of high hopes and strong and lofty ambition-a martyr to duty. A strong right arm wielding a trenchant blade; a powerless body bleeding to death in the trampled grass; a grave, upon which, once a year, a wreath is placed; and painful memory in the almost dead hearts of the "folks at home." That's all.
