Action Against The Archbishop of Westminster.

A certain Mr. W. Cobbett brought an action against Dr. Manning for assuming the title of Archbishop of Westminster, thereby becoming liable to the penalty of £100, under the Ecclesiastical Titles Act. As, however, according to the Act, the consent of the Attorney General is necessary to an action being brought, and that consent had not been given, poor Mr. Cobbett gained nothing by his action, and judgment was given against him, besides which he had to pay the costs, amounting to several hundred pounds.
