Chicago, Aug. 16.—Plans for an enthusiastic campaign, to extend through the fall and winter, are now being completed at the national headquarters of the Socialist party. The acquittal of Haywood and the success of the English Socialists in parliamentary elections has put new life into the propaganda. From all over the country demands are pouring in for lecturers, and the great increase in the financial receipts will make it possible to supply the demand.
Scores of the brightest men and women in the party have been selected for this work and will start out in the next few weeks to spread the glad tidings of social revolution throughout the length and breadth of the land. Michigan, Wisconsin and other northern states will be the scene of the first onslaught of the agitators, and the propaganda will be gradually extended until every voter in the country has learned what he must do to be saved.
At the office of the national officers it was stated that William Haywood would almost certainly be nominated for the presidency, and the prediction was made that he would receive the largest vote ever cast for a third party candidate. J. Mahlon Barnes, national secretary of the Socialist party, is in charge of the plans for the campaign.
