I think the views of the French party
cannot be set in a fairer point of view, than
they were a few evenings since, at a meeting
of a number of patriots, held at Leshner's
tavern, at which citizen Barker presided.
The business being opened by the said
citizen in a speech recommending the talents
integrity and patriotism of Israel Israel, and
calling on all the friends of liberty and equality
to exert themselves at the ensuing
election for a senator. This oracle of the
party, this standard of jacobinism, concluded
his harangue with the following sentence:
"Now is the time—if we carry Israel Israel,
we shall hereafter, like Buonaparte,
conquer all before us." This being the determination
of the French party, it is certainly the duty of every
good citizen to oppose these Buonaparte men, who now publicly
declare, what they have never ventured to declare before, that their
determination is, like their great leader, to overturn
every kind of order, and establish a government of their own.
