On Thursday last Mr. Hogan the Younger, went from hence with four other Men in a Boat or Gundalo, a little above the Narrows, to fetch Wood and a parcel of small Timber to mend a Boat with, which while they were cutting they were fir'd upon by a Number of Indians, who killed Hogan and two others; wounded one, and the other made his Escape to Town and brought the News.

The same Day Mr. Haifelup of this Town, with another Man and his Servant Boy, went up into the Bay with his Boat for a Load of Spruce. and as several Guns were heard to be fir'd about the Place where he landed, 'tis suppos'd they were all kill'd.

The next Day about a Dozen of arm'd Men went in order to recover the Dead Bodies, but could find only one named John Cain, whom they brought to Town with them; he received two Balls through his Body. and altho' his Head had been close shav'd but two Days before, yet he was scalp'd and cruelly mangled.
