"Never Tire."
Editors Dispatch: The prizes in the Australian World's Fair have been distributed, and it must be very gratifying to a Virginian to see how the old State holds her own. Here is the full prize list on tobaccos, from the Melbourne Argus of May 20th:
Hams & Co., Richmond, Va., manufactured hard tobaccos, silver; T. C. Williams Brother, Petersburg, Va., manufactured hard tobaccos, silver; William Cameron & Co., Richmond, Va., manufactured hard tobaccos, silver; Alexander Cameron & Co., Richmond, Va., manufactured hard tobaccos, silver; Allen & Ginter, Richmond, Va., cut tobaccos, silver; William S. Kimball & Co., Rochester, N. Y., cut tobaccos, silver (two awards); Allen & Ginter, Richmond, Va., cigarettes, silver; Gail & Ax, Baltimore, Md., cut smoking and cigarette tobaccos, silver.
The Emperor of Germany offered a prize worth 4,000 for the International Fair, to be given "to an exhibitor of one of the Australian colonies as an acknowledgment of the efforts in promoting art and industry shown by the high qualities of the goods manufactured by such exhibitor." In each grand division of local manufacture the best exhibitor was named by the jury having it in charge, and we find that Jury 20 gave the award to "Cameron Brothers, of Melbourne." The head of this house is William Cameron, Esq., formerly of Petersburg, and well and widely known in the tobacco and business circles of both hemispheres. We all wish him joy.
Mr. Ekin.
