Ghio Building March 1st.
Yesterday Mr. W. G. Burton, of
Paris, Texas, accompanied by Mr.
Ghio, made us a pleasant call. Mr.
Ghio informed us that he had rented
his large double store rooms on
West Broad street to the dry goods
firm of Graham. Nelson & Co., who
would open for business about March
1st. Mr. Burton is a member of
the firm, and he informed us that
the Graham combination had fourteen large establishments in Texas,
and two in the Indian Territory
and last year did a business of one
and a half million dollars.
They
will also open a new house at El Paso
right away, which will make sixteen
in Texas. Mr. Burton informed us
that the house here expected to do
a wholesale as well as retail business,
and would carry from thirty
to fifty thousand dollar stock - perhaps
more later on; that they sell
exclusively for cash, as well as buy
the same way.
They have their
own buyer who stays in the East all
the time, and get goods at bottom
figures. Say their store here will
be a beauty - everything brand new.
