SNUFFS OUT LIFE
OF TWO WEEK SON

A 25-year-old mother reportedly smothered her two week old son to death last Saturday upon falling to sleep after she had nursed him in bed.

Mrs. Melrose Dixon, 2094 Charlevoix, told police that she took her son, Dennis, to bed with her and her husband Alex, about 12:30 a.m. and went to sleep after nursing him.

When she awoke about 3:30 a.m. the baby was still. She called police officers who took the infant to Receiving Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The baby, reported the coroner's office, had marks on the right arm and leg, looking as though the mother might have rolled on him.
