A
NEW FEDERAL SONG...By a
young Midshipman of the "Ark."
TUNE...Yankee Doodle, Maggie
Lauder,
Wilkes, Wriggle, or the Vicar of Bray.
IN concert let each heart and tongue,
By Federal rage inspir'd ;
Join in a pious, loyal song,
In praise of Mr. BAYARD.
Come let us raise our voices high,
Against whigs and tories;
Till the wide concave of the sky,
Rebounds the Federal chorus.
His "well earn'd honest fame" we'll sing.
And piety resplendent---
His predilection for a king,
And talents most transcendent!"
Come let us, &c.
The brave defender of the church...
The friend of true religion !
Who never left her in the lurch,
To her opponents tyrian.
Come let us, &c.
But guards her from the devil base,
Who on her neck would trample,
And sinners leads in paths of grace,
By his own bright example !
Come let us, &c.
Who all her principles regards,
From Monday morn 'till Sunday ;
And never takes a game at cards,
Not e'en upon a Sunday!!!
Come let us, &c.
And while in Congress hall he prays,
Against the Demo faction ;
Religion plays, in dazzling rays,
Around his every action.
Come let us, &c.
Now to the captain of the "Ark,"
And all her gallant crew sir,
Who have, or with him may embark,
We render homage due sir.
Come, let us, &c.
Then loud huzzas for captain Black,
A son of mother Britain,
Who on his larboard, starboard tack,
The democrats has smitten.
Come let us, &c.
