Jurors Get Goeschel Case

Hit-Run Case Near Completion

Circuit Judge Neil E. Reid at 4 p. m. today will charge the jury hearing manslaughter charges against Gordon Goeschel, 25, of 51 Grand, who, the prosecution claims, was the hit-run driver responsible for the death Feb. 20, of Eleanore Speer, 20, an expectant mother.

Judge Reid adjourned court from noon until 4 p. m. when one of the jurors, Albert Mallow, asked to be excused to attend the funeral of his brother in Detroit.

After listening to the closing argument of Ray H. Callens, attorney for Goeschel, for two hours this morning, the jury heard rebuttal from Chief Assistant Prosecutor Wilbur F. Heid immediately prior to the noon recess.
