"As every thing which relates to Banks and Banking is a matter of peculiar interest at this moment to the American people, and especially to those of our commercial emporium, I have procured the substance of an argument of Col. White of Florida, in the Supreme Court, upon a question now depending. The question is one of great magnitude and solicitude, as it relates to the contested rights of the State and Federal Governments. It is hoped that this enlightened tribunal will settle some salutary principles in this case."
We are indebted to a friend for the argument in question, and will publish it at an early day. The point in issue is no less than whether the States have a right by the creation of State Banks, to nullify, in effect, the provision in the Constitution of the United States prohibiting each State from emitting "bills of credit."

Main Argument
states should not have the right through creating state banks to effectively nullify the constitutional prohibition on emitting bills of credit, as this contests state and federal government rights; hopes the supreme court will establish salutary principles.
