Full Text
The most effectual remedy at the east for this insect, has been, late sowing. Such being the case, the wheat grower is crammed between Scylla and Charybdis, and he has but the poor alternative to sow early and give his wheat to the fly; or to sow late and give it to rust. The case at best is embarrassing, and we see no propriety in any universal rule on the subject. Where there is no danger of the fly, early sowing can be adhered to without risk. But where there is danger of it, the choice is to sow late and risk the rust, or early and rely upon the other remedies against the fly. These remedies we heretofore alluded to.--Prairie Farmer.
