The newest thing in umbrella handles is golden cedar. It has a delightfully soft tone and is not at all cheap.

White Irish crochet lace with black velvet baby ribbon and embroidery added is noted on a new dress.

For evening dress the sleeve reaching half way to the elbow and edged with a shaded fall of lace is pretty.

Handsome silks brocaded with velvet are shown at the waistmaker's. Repped panne and dotted velvets will be used for separate waists, also peau de soie.

Which, however, is much less dressy in effect than finer woven materials. White china silk makes a lovely tea gown in a quality that will wash well. It gives good service.

On some short coats the belt which follows the lower edge includes a narrow postilion, and the sleeves come at the wrist by straps, held in place under button fastenings.

Cream alpaca is considered extremely smart for gowns.

Fabrics for afternoon waists are the dainty black and white silks and china and doeskin flannel or cashmere de soie.

Rated with Persian embroideries and a profusion of tiny French knots.

Dress fabrics show many attractive weaves including pretty French designs in delicate pastel color blendings. Leather clothings affords end metallosettes, all dotted, checked and striped. Saxony wools plain and fancy drap d'etee Indian dirk checks in delicately green charlottes. These weaves novelty rocks. Smart tweeds English serges and diagonals and a fine crepe de cloth.

A tucked princess dress has the vertical tucks extending from the neck to within four inches depth of the skirt edge straight directly at the back, where they are into graduated plaits. Three gores fasten at the back and they made to fit the figure so closely as gown finished with the regulation seams and darts.

Waists are established in favor with the bent cornered eccentrics and the fabrics and furnishings used in their construction are beautiful.

Never have evening wraps been more elaborate than they are at present, being composed chiefly of lace surah taffeta, chiffon and taffetas.
