Hailed as the new "miracle man" of politics, because of his skyrocketing to national prominence as special rackets prosecutor, Thomas E. Dewey of New York City now moves up the political ladder as district attorney of New York county.

Dewey, shown with his wife and mother at their New York home, ran as a Republican Liberal and took the last stronghold of Tammany. Only 35, Dewey now is hailed as a "natural" for the Republican gubernatorial nomination in New York next year. He is a native of Michigan and a graduate of the University of Michigan (1923).
