Mad Dog.—A gentleman informs us, that as he was yesterday morning along Locust street near Ninth, he saw a stout man in a violent struggle with a very large dog, which was evidently rabid. The man had hold of him by the neck, and was, by the exercise of immense muscular power, enabled to prevent the animal from biting him. Some gentlemen attempted to stab the dog, but a rope was obtained, and the suffering and ferocious beast was hung up and killed. The man was almost covered with foam from the dog's mouth.—It was remarkable that the dog gave no promontory symptoms of madness. He was walking beside his master, and suddenly turned upon him, with an attempt to bite. The man evaded his attack—but the dog immediately returned upon him—his mouth full of white froth,—the owner then seized the animal and held him until a rope was procured. Our informant mentioned that the man yielded with reluctance to the necessity of the case, and shed tears over the fate of his favorite dog.

Where are fine wire muzzles sold?—U. S. Gaz.
