Clarksville and Auburn Road.

A delegation from Pike county met the County Court of Lincoln, on the 17th, and after mutual explanations, the Court agreed to meet dollar for dollar, the cost of building the road from the county line south through Auburn and Troy, and to St. Charles county. "This," says the Clarksville Sentinel, "secures the building of the road, at least to Auburn, at once, and no doubt will result eventually in our having a direct road from here to St. Charles, which is a matter of no small interest to both this and Lincoln counties. The County Court of Lincoln county has done the right thing, to meet the liberal offer made by our road company and city. The survey of the Louisville extension is to be made very soon."

The citizens of Pike county, and the thriving, growing town of Clarksville, are wide awake to their interest. They have realized the benefits growing out of the gravel roads about them, and see clearly the advantage of an extension of these roads. We have before named the necessity of such a road as is proposed above, and although every one acknowledges the incalculable benefit of it to our town and county, in a financial point of view, to say nothing of the conveniences thereby afforded, yet it seems as if the energy is lacking. We hope the move on foot will succeed, and we assure our citizens they will have no cause for regret at its accomplishment.
