Reports Regarding New Orleans.

The Navy Department has received full reports from commanders at New Orleans; accompanied by elaborate plans of the forts as they appeared after the bombardment.

Out of 7500 shells thrown, 1100 were counted in the solid ground of the fort; 1100 exploded in the air above the forts; 3300 in ditches and overflowed portions of the fort. The draw bridge, hot shot furnaces and cistern are completely destroyed.

All the casemates and passages were filled with water, the levee having been cut. Platforms for tents had been burned up. The casemates were cracked from end to end, and the roofs of many broken in.

Four guns were dismounted, and eleven gun-carriages and traverses injured.
