THE VOTE OF THE CLERGY.
To the Editor of The N. Y. Tribune.
SIR: Will you allow me to offer a suggestion? The
majority of our clergy do not, I believe, ordinarily
vote at our elections. Would it not be well to remind
them, by a few lines, that it is their duty to exercise
that right to-day?-that the issue, being detached
from all purely partisan questions, is simply between
honesty and corruption?-and that, wherever and
however they can make their influence tell for right
against wrong-for virtue and against vice-it is
plainly their duty to make it so tell?
