An Open Letter To Organizations and Citizens ...
We've had our faith restored in editorials; maybe they're worth writing after all.
This all has to do with the challenge The Gazette hurled just a month ago calling for partners in our campaign to "Clean Up East Hartford". We've had at least six serious voices at the other end of the telephone rise to the challenge; in fact, two persons dropped by to volunteer.
Our suggestion now is that we sponsor an exploratory meeting--where we can sit around a table and discuss two things: (1) What we all can do, and (2) How best to get it done.
The Gazette is going to call this first meeting for next Tuesday evening (late afternoon) at 5:30 p.m. at our office, 1128 Main Street. It won't last beyond an hour, but we're going to test our luck and see if we can match deeds with words.
We'd like to have representatives (one or two only please) from any organized group in town who might be willing to give us a hand. Chamber of Commerce, Garden Clubs, Board of Trade, Jaycees, Service Clubs, or even, private citizens. It would help to have you call our office (JA 8-2194) and say you'll be here.
Here's to a better East Hartford.
