NEW BERN—Roy Brown, one of the most omen conscious personalities in the entertainment world, is now convinced that thirteen is a lucky number.

His 13th appearance in the state of North Carolina last Wednesday night was one of his best. Brown and his great band of artists attracted the largest crowd to ever attend a dance in this bustling Tarheel village.

Roy, since his childhood, has been acutely aware of omens and the many superstitions of his native New Orleans. Most of them he has long since discarded. However, he has never lost his regard of thirteen as a "jinx" number. So apprehensive was he when told that the date was the thirteenth that he actually tried to cancel the engagement.
