This morning James Murphy and James Dugan, the former for the wilful murder of John Beattie, a sailor, by striking him with a cutlass on the head, and the latter for aiding and abetting him in the said murder, were executed at Tyburn, pursuant to their sentence on Saturday last. At the place of execution they both acknowledged having joined the rioters, but declared themselves innocent of the murder. Being Papists they refused to join in prayer with the ordinary, and remained but a short time in the cart before they were turned off; after hanging the usual time their bodies were cut down, and carried to the Surgeons Hall for dissection.
