Bishop Reid To Be Founders' Speaker
Morris Brown College will celebrate its sixtieth anniversary and also the annual student-faculty rally will culminate. More
annual founders' day On March 7 and 8 in the College Chapel.
The Alumni Association will have charge of the program on Wednesday, March 7, beginning at eight o'clock. J C. Reese, principal of Center High School, Waycross, will deliver the principal address. Also on the same program ten-minute talks will be given by Miss Mabel Hall, A. P. Lightner, Mr. Lucille Lewis and Rev. F. W Bagby. Music will be furnished by the men's glee club.
Thursday morning, March 8, at ten o'clock, Bishop Frank Madison Reid of the 7th and 15th Episcopal District of the AME Church, will deliver the Founders' Day Address. Appearing on the program also will be Rev. J. S Bryan, pastor of St. John AME church, Columbus, and Rev. W. G. B. Harman, pastor, Bethel AME church, Augusta. Music on Thursday morning will be rendered by an ensemble of voice students. At this time
On Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Bishop W. A. Fountain will preside over the presiding elders and ministerial council.
At eight o'clock in the evening, March 8, the music department will present a concert featuring classical and semi-classical selections, from Handel, Beethoven, Schubert, Elgar and other noted composers.
Piano selections will be rendered by Misses W. Bernita Darby, Charlie Mae Davis and Gladys Posey.
The women's ensemble and women's glee club will sing. Soloists are Misses Myrtle Williams, Katie Johnson, Dorothy Turner.
The musical groups are under the direction of Mrs. Grace Burley-Boggs and Miss Jessica P. Divers.
