BOSTON, July 17.
Yesterday morning being the Anniversary of Commencement at the University in Cambridge, about ten o'clock in the forenoon, his Excellency the Governor, his honor the Lieutenant Governor, several Members of the Honorable Council and Senate, the Hon. JOHN ADAMS, Esq. late Ambassador from the United States to the Court of Great Britain, and a number of other gentlemen of distinction, arrived at Harvard-Hall, having been accompanied on their tour from Boston, by the Deputy-Sheriff of the county of Suffolk (the High Sheriff by indisposition being unable to attend) and the Independent company of Horse-Guards, under Lieutenant GIBBS. They were received by the Fellows of the Corporation, Professors and Tutors, and conducted to the Philosophy-Room, where the board of overseers met.

The business necessary to be done previous to the solemnities of the day, was here transacted; and about ii o'clock they went in the usual procession to the meeting-house.

The degree of BACHELOR of ARTS, was conferred on the following young gentlemen, viz.
Benjamin Abbot, Solomon Adams, Thomas Adams, Thomas Bancroft, Oliver Barron, Stephen Baxter, Joseph Brigham, Joseph Cabot, George Caryl, Edward Clarke, Oliver Dodge, James Gardner, Adam Gordon, William Hill, Charles Jackson, Jacob Kimball, Abner Lincoln, Henry Phelps, John Phillips, James Prescott, Daniel Clarke Sanders, William Sawyer, Amos Tappan, John Dexter Treadwell, Charles Turner, Nathan Underwood, Samuel West, Robert Weir.

And the degree of Master of Arts, was conferred on the following gentlemen.--John Allen, Jacob Haven, Charles Coffin, Nathan Hayward, Thomas Crafts, Theodore Lincoln, Ebenezer Dawes, William Mackay, Amasa Dingley, Amasa Paine, Samuel Emerson, Ebenezer Putnam, Thaddeus Fiske, Merrick Rice, John Fleet, John Miller Russell, David Gurney, Henry Ware.
