Two Nome Explorer Scouts
Receive Eagle Award
As Convention Begins

Ray Arnold and Rod Boucher were recognized at the grand opening of the Pioneer Convention this morning as pioneers in Scouting when they were presented Eagle Badges by Gov. of Alaska William Egan. Ray is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Arnold, and Rod is the son of Mrs. Emily Boucher, all of Nome.

Chairman of the Scout Committee, Sgt. James Blanning, introduced the boys, reviewing their background showing how they had been the first Star Scouts, first Life Scouts and now the first Eagle Scouts.

Roy Boucher is the grandson of Past Grand President of the Pioneers Antonio Polet, and Ray Arnold is the grandson of pioneer Herman Hoop, who had the first dairy in Nome. Both boys are high school seniors.
